Foundation Coordinator (Part-Time)
Location: Shirley, NY
Hours: Part Time (25hrs per week)
Organization: New York Cancer Foundation
Position Overview
As Foundation Coordinator, the candidate will be responsible for incoming calls and speaking to cancer patients and applicants in different stages of their process through their application. Must be compassionate as well as tech savvy. Also must be available for Foundation based programs including fundraising events which typically will be evenings or weekends. Will be involved in database usage which assists in on- going communication support with grant recipients through the application process. Must be a team player and enjoy a flexible work environment. Must enjoy helping others and have compassion on patient-facing phone calls.
In This Role, You Will:
Answer incoming calls and emails from patients and social workers
Coordinating and managing the applications process
Data Management – maintain and update grant recipient data in software platforms and excel
Make outgoing calls to potential grant applicants
Maintain high level of patient communication and care
Assist with preparation of materials for meetings, including data support
Work with event manager on an as needed basis during events
Must attend Foundation events, which include some nights and weekends throughout year
Other tasks as needed in department to assist Manager
We Require:
High school or GED required. Bachelors is preferred
At least 1 year of experience working for a non-profit would be ideal, experience in a health care background would be a plus.
Prior Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel experience
Must possess excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and problem solve.
Must have the ability to converse in a calm and friendly manner and be able to handle and comfort cancer patients during a difficult time.
Bi-Lingual a plus.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must attend events, on nights and weekends
