Purpose of the Role
The HIV Testing Staff will provide confidential, client-centered HIV counseling and testing services in accordance with state and organizational protocols. This role supports HIV prevention efforts by conducting HIV rapid tests, delivering results, and offering risk-reduction counseling/education. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to serving diverse LGBTQIA+ communities and other populations disproportionately affected by HIV.
Essential Functions:

90% | Direct Service Provision |
| Support the overall goals of the HIV prevention and health services team, including: 1. Conduct rapid HIV testing and pre-/post-test counseling in compliance with Department of Health and organizational guidelines. 2. Assess client needs and provide risk-reduction education, referrals, and linkage to care (including PrEP/PEP, STI testing, and supportive services). 3. Participate in outreach, health fairs, mobile testing events, and community-based testing initiatives as needed. 4. Provide culturally competent, nonjudgmental, and trauma-informed services. 5. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations. 6. Document services accurately in Salesforce (client tracking system). 7. Ensure testing supplies are stocked, quality control procedures are followed, and testing space is clean and safe. 8. Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development sessions. |

| 1. Data collection as needed to maintain city, state, and federal HIV testing requirements 2. Assist with reporting needs for grants, audits, and program evaluations 3. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and cross-team collaboration efforts 4. Provide assistance and coverage for YSD programs, as needed |

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- 3 – 5 years of experience within the field of youth services or secondary education
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework in public health, health education, social work, or related field preferred).
- Prior experience providing HIV testing, sexual health education, or related health services; HIV Counselor/Tester certification, preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage individuals from diverse cultural, racial/ethnic, gender, and sexual orientation backgrounds
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and at community testing sites
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) preferred, but not required
Regular Working Schedule:
- HMI general program hours are based at 2 Astor Place, NYC, Mon-Fri, 12:00p – 8:00p
- Part-time; approximately [10–20] hours per week
- Flexible scheduling with evenings and weekends required
