Music Instructor at Roselle Park District

This position could be as an hourly employee or independent contractor.

As an hourly employee:
- $18-$20/hour DOQ
- Days and times to be determined by instructor availability
- Benefits include free individual fitness center pass, free individual pool pass, 25% off programs; certain restrictions apply.

Independent Contractor:
- Terms determined on contract
 

1. Must be 18 years old
2. Minimum of one to three years’ experience in working with children in a fun learning environment.
3. Must have formal instruction in the musical field.
4. Music degree preferred
5. Must be able to read music and perform on specified instrument
6. Must be self-motivated and responsible.
7. Ability to follow directions and communicate both verbally and in writing.
8. Ability to deal with residents, staff and job responsibilities under stressful conditions.
9. Ability to control children within a classroom setting.
10. Must be able to respond to and handle children’s behaviors in a positive appropriate manner.
11. CPR/First Aid certification, preferred.

1. Teach individual music lessons and sustain student progress.
2. Develop, teach, and execute class plans for individual lessons of all ages.
3. Explain & demonstrate performance techniques on the specified instrument.
4. Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
5. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
6. Demonstrate strong communication skills, be out-going, and enjoy building relationships with a variety of members working to meet their music goals.
7. May teach a variety of classes based on experience and specialties.
8. Ensure that music instruction areas are always presentable. Assist with cleaning and maintenance.
9. Alert Recreation Supervisor of needed inventory and supplies.
10. Keep accurate attendance records
11. Other duties as assigned
12. Keep parents informed of program expectations, activities, and their child’s progress
13. Discuss identified problems and needs with supervisor and coworkers as appropriate
14. Implement positive discipline when required
15. Be familiar with emergency procedures
