Job Summary
**The shift for this position is 8hr days, Monday-Friday**
The Anesthesia Technician will be under the general supervision of the Chief of Anesthesia. In addition to routine service areas and duties, responsible for specialty cases such as Transplant, Spines and Cardiac - including any unusal or complex situations. Additional service areas include but are not limited to: Radiology, MRI, all pre-op and PACU facilities. Must posses and understand some medical terminology to interpret physician instruction.
The Anesthesia Technician must be able to use judgement and initiative to recongnize conditions that could have potentially harmful outcomes to patient care. Works independently, has ability to make decisions and set priorities with minimal guidance. Responsible for knowledge of and compliance with all applicable infection control, health and safety policies and procedures as implemented by the department and/or work unit and UCSF Medical Center. Additionally, adherence to departmental policies and procedures, including telephone and house standards is required.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $43.42 - $54.06 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Two year previous experience as an Anesthesia Technician II
- High school diploma; or equivalent experience
- Basic mathematical skills to quickly and accurately add, subtract, divide, and multiply whole numbers and decimals manually or using a calculator
- Knowledge of medical/surgical and anesthetic terminology
- Ability to work independently with good organizational skills
- Good communication skills; ability to be clearly understood, friendly, courteous, and work in a cooperative manner
- The ability to see well and read in dim light; ability to distinguish colors on the anesthesia monitors; manual dexterity to manipulate small equipment including, but not limited to, twisting bulbs, turning dials, changing batteries, and pushing buttons; ability to move in confined spaces; able to repetitively lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
- Demonstrates competency in all service areas including cardiac and transplant services
- The ability to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations
