Position Summary 

The Manufacturing Associate plays a key role in the hands-on application of epoxy coatings to valves used in submarine systems. This is an entry-level position in a fast-paced machine shop environment, directly supporting critical defense manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate should have either:

  • Experience with composite/epoxy application or similar manufacturing processes, 

or

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.

Full training is provided, and there is significant opportunity to grow into roles with greater program ownership and responsibility over time. This position is an excellent starting point for individuals who want to build a career in advanced manufacturing while contributing to essential Naval programs.
 

Essential Functions

  • Perform epoxy applications on submarine valve castings and components according to engineering and customer specifications.
  • Prepare machined parts or castings prior to coating.
  • Coordinate schedules internally or externally to meet production needs.
  • Conduct in-process visual and dimensional inspections.
  • Maintain clean work areas and ensure proper handling of components and materials.
  • Collaborate with other team members to meet project and program timelines.
  • Operate forklifts, hoists, or other equipment to move heavy parts as needed.
  • Follow safety, quality, and procedural guidelines.
  • Learn and execute tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Train others once proficient, if required.
  • Support other manufacturing operations when epoxy workload allows.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience with epoxy, composite materials, machining, or manufacturing—or mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to read basic prints and follow technical instructions.
  • Physically able to lift, handle, and move parts using tools and equipment.
  • Strong self-starter with time management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-standards environment.
  • Willingness to learn (all qualifications and responsibilities do not require previous experience—on-the-job training available to the right candidate).

 

Preferred

  • High School Diploma
  • Familiarity with submarine or defense manufacturing systems. 
  • Forklift or hoist experience.
  • Exposure to in-process or final inspection techniques.
  • Ability to train and guide others as proficiency develops.
  • Willingness to grow into greater program ownership over time.
