 WHO WE ARE

Educare of Omaha, Inc. is a non-profit organization that has a collaborative partnership between Early Head Start/Head Start, Omaha Public Schools and the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. Comprised of the two Educare Omaha Schools (Kellom and Indian Hill) and three Early Learning Centers (Skinner, Gateway and Kennedy), the mission of Educare of Omaha, Inc. is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 0 to 5 through the provision of evidence-based education, health, nutritional, social, family engagement and other services to enrolled children and their families.  


 POSITION DETAILS

The Health Services Manager The Food Services Manager is responsible for assisting in assessing, planning, coordinating, supervising, and directing the preparation of food to be served, complying with all applicable sanitation, health, personal hygiene standards, and following CACFP established food production procedures for the five (5) Educare of Omaha Inc., food facilities. The Food Service Manager is also responsible for appropriate use of facility inventory, supplies and equipment, and organized program enrolled for health & nutrition services to children and families enrolled in Educare of Omaha, Inc. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide supervisory support and assist with the planning and organization of the food services staff engaged in the daily operation of the five (5) school food service facilities that prepare and serve food and beverages.
  • Oversee food preparation, portion sizes, menus, and the overall presentation of food according to CACFP guidelines.
  • Regularly inspecting all work areas to ensure compliance with food health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee, administer, delegate inventory of food supplies and other consumables, ordering necessary supplies as needed, and receiving deliveries for all five (5) food facilities.
  • Schedule staff hours and assign duties.
  • Manage budgets, payroll records, and employee time & attendance.
  • Arranging cleaning and maintenance services including trash removal, pest control, deep cleaning, and equipment maintenance, as needed.
  • Oversees all supplies and maintains first in-first out inventory.
  • Maintains clean and sanitary work environment.
  • Oversees paperwork required for the CACFP program including daily production records.
  • Consults with staff on nutrition projects, healthy eating habits for children, family style meals and/or CACFP guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as required.

SUPERVISION

  • Conduct regular and reflective supervision with direct reports.
  • Monitor and address issues around staff performance and related disciplinary action. 
  • Promote mutual support and teamwork among staff. 
  • Convene and chair leadership team meetings. 
  • In collaboration with the Food Services Department, ensure the implementation of all Educare food safety procedures at the school. 
  • Ensure staff have Professional Development plans and are updated at least quarterly.  
  • Ensuring effective implementation of coaching practices.  
  • Ensure all 90-day and annual performance evaluations are completed.

Schedule: Full Time (40 hours per week, Monday-Friday); 12 Months. The typical work schedule will vary based on the needs of the school and the organization. Our schools are open 7:00am-5:30pm and the schedule will range between hours of operations.

 EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree in culinary arts or related field preferred OR

    • Equivalent work experience and supervisory experience. Considerable knowledge of institutional food preparation, meal planning, and nutrition.

  • Two or more years of job-related experience or training in institutional or hospital food service department (preferred).
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Training in quantity food preparation.
  • Valid Douglas County Food Handlers card and obtain Servsafe Certification.
  • Sound knowledge of labor laws as well as food health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding leadership and management skills.
