What is Fizz

Fizz is the dominant social platform for Gen-Z to connect with their immediate communities. Each Fizz community has a private and moderated feed of anonymous posts, authored by verified students at their school, providing the most entertaining, relatable, and interesting conversations about student life.

Students can post questions, memes, polls, and chat with other verified students while maintaining control over their identity and privacy. Fizz communities prioritize safety, authenticity, and inclusion through community-based moderation.

Founded by two Stanford dropouts, Fizz is currently expanding across colleges and high schools across the US with a mission to redefine the “social network” in a time when legacy platforms lack authenticity and are filled with curated highlight reels.

What we’ve done

We first launched Fizz at Stanford in July 2021 and have since seen >95% of undergraduates join the app, half of which use Fizz every day. Since raising a $25M Series B in July 2023, we have established ourselves as the dominant community platform at 350+ colleges, have begun to generate revenue through partnerships, and are actively expanding to communities beyond college.

Where we’re going

We have three primary goals for 2025: continue our expansion to the entire US college market, drive revenue growth through continuous product iteration, and build product to expand our user base and become the dominant social platform for all of Gen-Z, not just US college students.

What you’ll be doing

We’re seeking a Growth Engineer to build the systems and automations that power Fizz’s expansion, monetization, and operational efficiency. In this role, you’ll sit at the intersection of product, engineering, and go-to-market — working directly with our Head of Product, CTO, CEO, growth, and monetization teams.

You’ll own high-leverage projects across GTM, content management, trust & safety, and monetization, designing systems that eliminate manual work and accelerate our growth.

Specifically, your responsibilities will include:

  • Build systems that drive growth: Design and maintain the internal tools, workflows, and automations that power Fizz’s GTM engine, from onboarding flows to campus launch execution.

  • Enable operational excellence: Collaborate with ops and trust & safety teams to identify recurring issues, ship quick fixes, and deliver scalable solutions that improve efficiency and reduce pain points.

  • Turn data into leverage: Own analytics pipelines, dashboards, and reporting. Write SQL queries, track performance metrics, and ensure teams have accurate and actionable insights.

  • Automate the unglamorous stuff: From internal content workflows to systems that manage performance of 500+ Instagram page managers on campus, take on critical but messy challenges that unlock scalability.

  • Requirements shaping: You don’t just wait for specs — you proactively talk to ops, growth, and product teams to uncover problems, scope opportunities, and define what should be built.

  • Experiment and ship quickly: Prototype Retool apps or lightweight internal tools while also partnering with engineering to design long-term, production-grade systems.

  • Be accountable for outcomes: Your work directly impacts Fizz’s ability to expand faster, monetize smarter, and operate more efficiently.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in software engineering, growth engineering, or technical product roles

  • Proven track record of building systems or products from 0→1 in fast-paced environments

  • Exceptional communication skills to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Highly data-driven, with the ability to dive deep into analytics while also shaping strategic outcomes

  • Comfort moving between scrappy prototyping and long-term systems thinking

  • Strong grasp on the psychology of social products and a passion for building authentic experiences for Gen-Z

The primary technologies we work with are Swift, Node, Google Cloud, BigQuery, Mixpanel, and Retool — but prior experience with these specific technologies is not required.

The targeted compensation range for this role is between $120,000 - $170,000 a year based on job related skills and experience. Fizz full-time employees are eligible to receive company sponsored benefits and equity.
