Business Group Overview:
Tactical Opportunities (Tac Opps) is Blackstone's opportunistic investment platform. The Tac Opps team invests globally across asset classes, industries and geographies, seeking to identify and execute on attractive, differentiated investment opportunities. As part of the strategy, the team leverages the intellectual capital across Blackstone’s various businesses while continuously optimizing its approach in the face of ever-changing market conditions.
Job Title: Blackstone Tactical Opportunities – Senior Associate
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in all aspects of evaluating new opportunities for opportunistic investments across asset classes and across different types of securities.
- Play a pivotal role in every step of an investment transaction, including due diligence, investment committee discussions, transaction execution, and negotiations, among others.
- Perform extensive due diligence which includes investment screening, thesis development, quantitative financial analysis, competitive market analysis, industry and thematic research, leading discussions with management teams, and formulating business plans for companies and investment targets.
- Coordinate and work directly with industry-leading executives, advisors and other key stakeholders as part of diligence.
- Prepare transaction evaluation materials to discuss the merits of a transaction with Blackstone’s senior investment decision makers for investment committee discussions.
- Lead all aspects of deal execution to complete a transaction, which includes deal structuring, raising financing with lenders, negotiating transaction agreements with counterparties and other legal documentation.
- Work closely with existing portfolio companies and their management teams to enhance sales, improve profitability, evaluate acquisition and refinancing opportunities, and run processes to sell portfolio companies.
- Manage Blackstone’s Associates and Analysts, and help build the Tactical Opportunities group culture.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, or a related field required.
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in related occupations required.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in conducting due diligence, investment evaluation, financial analyses, deal structuring and legal documentation for companies to purchase in whole or in part across the United States.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in closing transactions and investing in the equity capital of companies.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in working with the management teams and boards of directors of companies that are wholly or partially owned by a private equity fund in the United States.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in preparing and discussing transaction evaluation materials with an Investment Committee at a large asset manager.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in evaluating opportunities and building detailed financial models to invest in the common equity, preferred equity and debt of businesses.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with management teams that operate businesses in the media industry and evaluating how to improve the profitability and exit opportunities for businesses that derive revenue from advertising.
- Minimum 2 years of experience negotiating with lenders and working with lawyers to draft legal documentation to restructure the debt obligations of a private equity owned business.
- Experience can be concurrent.

Expected annual base salary range:
$180,000 - $215,000Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
