Job Description
Summary
Develops and promotes the overall vision, goals, strategies and objectives for the Architecture and Innovation department in line with overall IT divisional goals and the MedImpact strategy as developed and managed by the Senior Leadership Team. Through subordinate professionals, plans and coordinates the activities of the Architecture and Innovation functions. Promotes and ensures usage of standard, industry proven architecture techniques that scale to the organizations needs and provide flexibility and adaptability.
Guides Information Technology Innovation through partner company relationships, external vendors and internal business partners. Acts as the company’s expert on innovation and technology concepts, provides research and development (R&D) to the IT organization, conducts pilot and proof-of-concept projects as needed, and supports the organization’s innovation initiatives and acts as the interface to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on critical technology innovation concepts. Continually evaluates MedImpact's technology, systems and innovation capabilities; makes recommendations and implements changes that will strengthen the company's infrastructure, business and
market position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develop and promote the Architecture and Innovation department's vision, goals, and objectives in support of the Company's overall vision and objectives. Select, develop and manage the necessary organization to implement the vision and keep members of the department motivated and focused on achieving goals and objectives.
As a senior member of the IT management team, participate in overall business planning and maintain awareness of industry and technology trends that may influence the company's systems and operations.

Select, develop and manage the necessary organization to implement the vision and keep members of the department motivated and focused on achieving goals and objectives.
As a senior member of the IT management team, participate in overall business planning and maintain awareness of industry and technology trends that may influence the company's systems and operations.
Responsible for establishing and fostering relationships with partner companies, vendors and department leaders to understand business needs, goals, and how the Architecture and Innovation function can provide a solid foundation for flawless operations, solve business problems and support growth and value for MedImpact.
Works extensively with the Chief Information Officer and other members of the SLT team to identify opportunities for innovation and bring about positive change that provides value to the MedImpact organization. Ensure that the IT division is adequately meeting the innovation needs of the SLT and both internal and external customers.
Responsible for training and supporting subordinate staff, and others in company on architecture, innovation, integration and interoperability strategies and their use. Develop and implement architecture standards necessary to ensure a rock solid technology infrastructure. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Develop and manage department budget and staff to meet organization goals and objectives. Performs department staffing decisions (hiring, firing, performance evaluations, etc.). Provides technology career guidance and leadership to other managers in the IT division.
Be open to travel as needed 10% - 15% of the time.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages assigned staff in the segment area. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supports and enforces all company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner, taking corrective action whenever necessary.
Client Responsibilities
This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written). One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to clients.

Education and/or Experience
BA/BS Degree or equivalent; plus 10 years’ related experience; 10 years of SME in respective area(s); (or equivalent combination of education and experience); and 8 years supervisory experience; Supervisory experience may be substituted with 10 years of MedImpact experience plus an appropriate external leadership training program and internal mentorship with a seasoned leader at the Director level or above that must be completed within 12 months in new position.
Computer Skills
Basic programming and computer usage.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Any software Architectural certificates preferred.

Work Location
This position must work on-site at the San Diego Headquarters for purposes of providing adequate support to internal clients; being available for face-to-face interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as for facilitation of quick and effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders. Remote work is not an option for these purposes.
Working Hours
This is an exempt level position requiring the incumbent to work the hours required to fully accomplish job responsibilities and reasonably meet deadlines for work deliverables. The individual must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, at weekends or on holidays as required. Work hours may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business. Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Travel
This position requires domestic travel of up to 5% of the time.
