We’re seeking a Deputy General Counsel – Labor & Employment to provide strategic legal leadership on all matters related to labor and employment law. This is a critical, high-impact role where you will partner closely with HR, leadership, and business teams to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and guide decision-making on complex workplace issues.

💡 As a Successful Candidate, You will:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on all areas of labor and employment law, including discrimination, harassment, wage & hour, leave laws, and workplace accommodations.
  • Lead the organization’s labor relations strategy, including union negotiations, grievances, arbitration, and representation petitions.
  • Provide counsel on compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations, including EEO, ADA, ADEA, FEHA, FMLA, CFRA, PAGA, WARN Act, NLRA, and more.
  • Oversee and manage employment-related litigation and work closely with outside counsel on high-stakes matters.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, severance packages, settlement agreements, and position statements.
  • Partner with HR to develop policies, procedures, and training that foster a positive and compliant workplace culture.
  • Stay ahead of evolving employment laws and proactively guide organizational strategies.

🎯Your Qualifications Should Include:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active California Bar membership.
  • 7–10 years of experience practicing labor and employment law.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience managing attorneys or legal professionals.
  • Strong background in employment litigation, union negotiations, and advising on workforce-related strategies.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex, high-volume employment matters while balancing legal risks and business objectives.
  • A collaborative leader and strategic business partner who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
