Job Summary

The Medical Device Solutions team is a commercial facing, fast paced, fun group of designers, engineers, and other accomplished professionals dedicated to the problem solving and commercialization solutions related to bringing new medical technologies to market. We have an established client base, proven processes for product development, and a never-ending supply of problems to be solved to improve life on this planet. We are currently seeking a Medical Devices Engineering Intern for Summer 2026. This position is onsite located in Columbus, OH. The application deadline is November 10, 2025 or until filled.  

Responsibilities

Intern activities may include some or all of the following:

 

  • Assisting full-time engineers and designers with refinement of medical product designs
  • Conducting bench evaluation (testing) or medical product designs at various stages of product development process
  • Gaining exposure to Battelle internal R&D process for de-risking early stage ideas and concepts with clear grounding in an innovation and concept generation process that is translatable to technologies outside of medical devices

Key Qualifications

  • Must be currently pursuing bachelor’s or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related major.  
  • Must have at least three years of undergraduate coursework completed by the start of the internship. 
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking with internal and external stakeholders and clients at all levels of the organization
  • For Electrical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering majors: technical skills in board design, board layout and firmware development.
  • For Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering majors: technical skills in CAD, SolidWorks and part design.
  • Must be US Citizen
