Responsibilities / Tasks

We are looking for an Automation Engineer to join our automation team. Depending on the size of the project, you will work independently or as part of a team and regularly report to the project manager or your direct supervisor on the progress of automation studies and development. You must be able to adapt to the existing automation standards of our clients in order to meet the needs of the facilities we work on and to integrate new functionalities.

As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Writing functional specifications and programming applications for the processes sold by GEA, in accordance with client requirements and the specificities of our processes.
  • Participating in the analysis of processes and programs, in interface with GEA processes as part of revamping or new projects.
  • Integrating into our applications the GEA equipment or other specific machines delivered as packages by our international entities or suppliers.
  • Specifying automation hardware and software for procurement.
  • Setting up the necessary test platforms and conducting FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) of automation applications with our clients.
  • Carrying out on-site automation commissioning of applications in collaboration with our process engineers and successfully completing the final acceptance of the automation systems.
  • Writing operating manuals related to the control interfaces of the installations you have developed, as well as maintenance manuals for the implemented automation solutions.
  • Programming according to the new standard development tools deployed within the GEA Group.

You will mainly work in France, Europe, and North Africa on new projects and revamping in the liquid food processing sector. Travel is estimated at around 40% of the year (on-site analysis and client meetings, collaboration with GEA or subcontractors, FAT, and automation commissioning).

With an engineering background, you are driven by the continuous evolution of automation and its technological advantages, as well as the implementation of optimized solutions to support processes and meet our clients’ needs in the fields of Liquid Processing, Evaporation, and Food Drying.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in application programming and commissioning in the food processing industry, which is at the core of our business.
  • International experience is a plus – fluency in English is essential.
  • Solid knowledge of the following programming tools:
    • Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC,
    • Schneider Control Expert, VijeoDesigner,
    • Wonderware WSP, InTouch, Historian,
    • SQL Server,
  • Commitment and adaptability will be key assets for integrating into and contributing to the growth of our automation team.
