Why Work with Us?
You’ll be part of a team that values your story and your voice. You can help shape a program that meets people where they are, with compassion, respect, and real-world support. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your own skills as a leader in the recovery and peer support field all while working in a culture that values inclusion, authenticity, and mutual support.
Your Experience Matters
We’re looking for a compassionate, motivated leader with personal or professional experience in substance use recovery to lead a team of peer support staff in the Mid-Hudson region. This is more than a management position, it’s a chance to make a real impact in the lives of people working to heal, grow, and thrive in recovery. Whether you've walked your own recovery journey, supported a loved one, or worked in peer-based services, your experience matters here.
As Program Manager, you’ll guide and support a team of peer professionals who use their personal stories and experiences to connect with and empower others. You'll also help build partnerships in the community, promote harm reduction and recovery practices, and ensure the team is supported, trained, and inspired to do their best work.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and support the team: Supervise Team Leaders, Family Support Peers, and Program Assistants. Step in to support Peer Recovery Specialists as needed.
- Work side-by-side with staff: Join the team in the field for street outreach, harm reduction supply distribution, and community engagement.
- Support and grow the team: Help your staff develop skills in group facilitation, peer coaching, system navigation, and recovery advocacy.
- Keep things running smoothly: Schedule team meetings, coordinate training, and ensure all required documentation and reports are completed accurately and on time.
- Build community connections: Develop relationships with local organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to promote recovery services and peer support.
- Represent the program: Attend external meetings and act as a liaison to state agencies, ensuring our services reflect the needs of the community.
- Promote inclusion and recovery for all: Make sure all recovery pathways are respected—whether that’s 12-step, harm reduction, medication-assisted treatment, or other approaches.
Requirements
This Role Could Be a Great Fit If You:
- Have personal experience with substance use recovery—either your own or through someone close to you—and are comfortable sharing your story to help others.
- Are passionate about empowering others and believe in recovery in all its forms.
- Have experience leading a team and want to support peers and help them grow.
- Are familiar with services in the Mid-Hudson Region (Orange, Rockland, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan).
- Are comfortable working in the community, traveling regularly, and being hands-on with outreach.
- Believe that lived experience and personal growth are as valuable as formal education.
- Understand (or are eager to learn about) harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and peer support values.
- Personal or family/loved one experience with recovery, and willingness to share your experience as appropriate.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience—especially in roles supporting peers, recovery, or behavioral health.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for frequent travel across the Mid-Hudson region.
- Commitment to completing Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) training within 6 months, if not already certified.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CRPA or NY Certified Peer Specialist credential.
- Experience as a peer, peer supervisor, or recovery coach.
- Knowledge of recovery and harm reduction approaches.
- Familiarity with Foothold/AWARDS data systems.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Human Services or a related field—or equivalent lived/work experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
