Job Title: Outdoor Adventure Guide I
Department: Outdoor Adventures

Status: Seasonal PT/On Call

Reporting To: Outdoor Adventure Guide Supervisor


Position Overview:


The Outdoor Adventure Guides will support daily guided tours as well as backcountry expedition programs for adults and teenagers. This position will be responsible for daily guiding and participant and staff safety while ensuring a high level of customer service for our Powder Haven membership. This position will support a variety of winter programs including, but not limited to, backcountry skiing, nordic skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice climbing, speed riding and kiteskiing.


Expected to facilitate the safety and well being of client groups in hazardous terrain, with limited support. 

  • Daily duties may include: 
    • Relaying pertinent safety instructions to Operations Team, Guests, and other Guides.
    • First Aid and Emergency Response for injuries/incidents.
    • Participating in Operational Guide Briefing.
    • Adhere to Standard Operating Guidelines of the Outdoor Adventure Guide programs
    • Accountability and upkeep of adventure sports gear

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high standard of operations for safety and member interaction
  • Execute daily programming with an attention to detail on elevated luxury standards
  • Ensure smooth adventure program operations for daily and expeditions programs
  • Travel for expedition programs both regionally and internationally
  • Maintain high level safety and risk management assessments for all of our programming. 
  • Maintain Outdoor Adventure Equipment
  • Provide flexible, dynamic and engaging luxury adventure programming on demand for the private Powder Haven community
  • Provide program specific adventure technical coaching and environmental education programming for the Powder Mountain area during programs. 

Requirements and/or Qualifications:

  • Professional background in Outdoor Adventure Guiding
  • Familiarity with diverse portfolio of Outdoor Adventure activities
  • Emergency management experience preferred
  • WFR Minimum - WEMT Preferred
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
  • Drive work vehicles
  • Spend extended periods of time guiding in Outdoor Adventure programs
  • Pass background checks to run youth and teen programming
  • Nordic Ski Experience Preferred for classic and skate skiing
  • Snowshoe Experience Preferred
  • Snowmobile Operations Preferred
  • Kite Skiing Experience Preferred

Physical Requirements- Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to:

  • Ski Tour 5,000+ vertical ft. Daily
  • Ski and Hike with 40lb plus pack for a full day of operations
  • Ability to move 200+lbs by toboggan or medical extrication device.

Working Environment:

The working environment for this position ranges from indoor office environments to high alpine, desert, water based and hazardous outdoor environments. This position will spend extended periods of time in the backcountry and outdoor frontcountry conditions. This position will spend extended periods of time in the backcountry for Outdoor Adventure programs both summer and winter.
