Job Summary
Purpose Statement
This teacher will anchor San Domenico’s Mandarin program as the lead teacher for Mandarin levels 1-AP. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, accomplished Mandarin instructor. This teacher must be experienced in numerous modalities of instruction in which learning is academically rigorous, engaging, lively, and communication-based. Experience with introductory level as well as the AP Chinese Language and Culture curriculum is preferred.
Responsibilities of a Mandarin Teacher
The School’s faculty strives to set for its students an example of high ethical standards, moral behavior, and devotion to excellence. This responsibility involves the following:
To maintain a climate of trust and mutual respect which encourages students to risk the questions, the opinions and mistakes necessary to learn.
To offer students clear educational objectives for each course supported by appropriate assignments, activities and evaluation.
To accurately assess each student’s progress and inform the student, the parents, the academic advisor and the appropriate administrator immediately of any serious difficulty.
To show concern for and nurture the student’s intellectual, social, emotional, and ethical development.
To work collaboratively with colleagues within the World Language department and within the Upper School.
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mandarin or related subject
Previous experience teaching Mandarin courses at the high school level
Proficiency with technology
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in related subject or education; California Single Subject Teaching Credential

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $72,260- $140,000 annually, commensurate with skill set and experience. This position is classified as exempt and includes an excellent benefits package, including medical/dental/vision/life insurance, a matching 403b retirement plan, and daily lunch on work days.
