High school diploma or recognized equivalent and two years of study at an institution of higher education (72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the one hundred level or higher) or an Associate’s Degree (or higher) or a score of 455 or above on the ETS ParaPro Assessment required or completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council.
Must complete12creditsof ECE course work within 5 years.
Effective speaking, reading, writing, spelling, and math skills.
Must possess effective organizational and recordkeeping skills. Must possess basic computer skills.
Must be willing to assist with routine hygiene skills.
Must be able to squat, kneel, stand, lift approximately up to 10 pounds, and bend frequently.
Desired characteristics include flexibility, a desire to learn new ideas and skills and willingness to receive training.
Must possess skills necessary to develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students and families from diverse cultural, linguistic, social and economic backgrounds.
