Schedule: School Year - Evenings, Weekends; Summer - Daytime, Evenings - Varied Schedule, As Needed

About School District 622 Swim Programs and the Aquatic Lead Position:
- Sessions are 7-8 weeks long and run 4 times per year
- Evening lessons typically run 5:45 - 8:30 pm. Saturdays typical run 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
- Fall: late September – early December, weekday evenings at Skyview, Saturdays at John Glenn
- Winter: mid-January – mid-March, weekday evenings at Skyview, Saturdays at John Glenn
- Spring: late March – late May, weekday evenings at both pools, Saturdays at John Glenn
- Summer: early June – beginning of August, weekday evenings, and possibly mornings, could be at both pools
- Open swim runs on Saturdays during the school year following lessons
- It is expected that the Aquatic Supervisor or Aquatic Lead are on duty during all swim lessons and open swim sessions
- A number of rentals occur during the year including pool parties, youth swim teams/clubs, school group rentals, affinity group open swim, ceremonies, underwater hockey, etc. Some may require the supervisor or lead to be in attendance
- Work hours – shifts could be anywhere from 2-8 hours each, 1-4 days per week
- Varied days and evenings between lessons preparing, training, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety and security in pools and adjacent areas during Community Education sponsored activities
- Support the Aquatics Supervisor with duties related to mentoring and oversight of staff
- Be knowledgeable of all swimming levels and lifesaving techniques and be available to substitute for instructors and lifeguards when necessary
- Review aquatic staff time sheets for accuracy
- Communicate with and develop good rapport with district personnel and others who use the district’s swimming pools
- Help maintain an inventory of pool supplies and equipment including participant certificates
- Act as a liaison to the public regarding participant progress, lesson content, teaching methods and other program issues
- Attend staff meetings as needed
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current certifications in lifeguarding (LG) and water safety instruction (WSI) or ability to obtain them within six months of hire
- Evening and weekend availability
- Ability to lead by example
- Willingness to hold conversations with students, parents, guardians, etc
