Holland Public Schools is located in Holland, Michigan. The district has four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school and has an enrollment of approximately 3000 students. We offer a dual language immersion program in Spanish in grades K-8. OVERVIEW:The Library Coordinator will provide general support to each of the school libraries in Holland Public Schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Check books and materials in and out using the library’s automated system.
Assist students and staff with locating and borrowing materials.
Shelve returned books and materials in proper order.
Maintain the appearance and organization of library shelves.
Prepare new books and materials for circulation (labeling, barcoding, covering).
Repair or withdraw damaged/outdated materials as directed by the librarian.
Assist staff members with logging into library databases or using basic technology.
Help students learn basic library skills (finding books, using catalog systems).
Support reading programs, book fairs, and library displays.
Communicate with teachers about book requests, reserves, or needed materials.
Support special library events and literacy activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Completion of two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (equivalent of 60 credit hours), OR
Completion of an Associate Degree (or higher) from an accredited institution, OR
Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through passage of an approved formal state academic assessment in the following areas:
Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or
Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
Current State Board of Education Approved Assessments:
College Board’s SAT – Must score at least a 480 on evidence-based reading and writing and a 530 on math
ETS Parapro Assessment – A passing score of 460 is required Prior Approved Assessments
Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Basic Skills Test.
MTTC Professional Readiness Examination.

Post-secondary degree in library science or a related field.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, read printed materials and a computer screen, and communicate in person or over the telephone. The employee may be required to lift items up to 25 pounds.
