The Infusion Nurse has acquired knowledge and skill in the specialty practice of infusion nursing. The infusion nurse is accountable for practicing within the defined scope of practice for the RN and is committed to providing safe, effective infusion nursing care.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Administers IV fluids and medications including biologic therapies via vascular access devices per physician order
• Assesses and evaluates potential or actual patient reactions/health problems
• Provides education to patient and family regarding medications and side effects
• Documents patient care in electronic health record including patient charges associated with billing
• Adheres to department policies and procedures
• Maintains safe and therapeutic environment
• Participates in the establishment of the patient’s ongoing plan of care

Education and Experience Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED, required
• Completion of an accredited RN program
• Unencumbered, active Illinois RN License
• Previous experience in infusion therapy preferred
Environmental/Working Conditions:
Working environment is in an office/clinic setting.
Physical/Mental Demands:
• Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time
• Sit, stoop, and kneel
• Excellent vision, hearing, smell, and balance
• Requires lifting, carrying, or moving heavier objects (i.e. pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
• Possess full range of motion in shoulders and arms, including reaching above or below the shoulder.
