DCI Engineers, a nationally recognized structural and civil engineering consulting firm with over 20 offices across the U.S., is currently seeking a full-time Survey Technician to join our team in Spokane, WA. While this role is primarily office-based, our “field to finish” approach offers the unique opportunity to support projects through every stage—from initial research to final deliverables. The ideal candidate will bring strong office surveying skills and a collaborative attitude, with the flexibility to assist in the field when needed. This hands-on model promotes a dynamic learning environment, allowing Survey Technicians to gain valuable end-to-end project experience under the mentorship of a Professional Land Surveyor, supporting their path toward professional licensure.
Responsibilities of a Survey Office Technician:
- Collaborate closely with Senior Land Surveyors and fellow Survey Technicians.
- Conduct survey research and prepare boundary calculations from recorded documents for field crews to retrace property boundaries.
- Analyze Title Reports to identify deeds, easements, and other recorded encumbrances, and assess their impact on specific parcels of land.
- Draft final or near-final versions of Records of Survey, Topographic Maps, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Subdivision Plats, and Survey Exhibits for review and stamping by a Senior Land Surveyor.
- Draft legal descriptions and associated survey exhibits.
Requirements of a Survey Office Technician:
- 2+ years of office experience
- Experience with Civil Drafting Software (AutoCAD / Carlson)
- Ability to manage your time, juggling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Desire to provide excellent service and build client relationships
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Willing to occasionally travel throughout the Pacific Northwest
- Ability to climb hills and carry less than 80lbs.
- Clean driving record with ability to drive company or rental vehicles
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-year Associate of Applied Science Degree (Geomatics)
- 4-Year Bachelor of Science Degree (Geomatics)
- Land Surveyor in Training License (LSIT)
- Willingness to work towards LSIT, CST, and or FAA 107 pilot's license
- Familiarity with Carlson Civil Survey CAD software
- Familiarity with Carlson field equipment
- Experience preparing field surveys with survey equipment
