This position is responsible for the transportation and distribution of supplies, equipment, medical records, specimens, packages, mail, and STAT lab requests to the affiliates of Samaritan Healthcare. The Courier will be responsible for the utilization and upkeep of the Samaritan van. Some expectations include, but not be limited, to deliveries within Samaritan such as packages, mail, general supplies, and instruments or specimens to and from the Clinic and other locations as directed. The Courier will also offer assistance to the Central Stores Tech team when duties are complete and time allows. This is a full-time Monday - Friday position working from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:           

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Two (2) years of general inventory experience.
  3. Computer skills (Word, Excel).
  4. Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
  5. Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.

  3. Performs actions that demonstrate accountability. Exercises safe judgment in decision-making.  Practices within legal and ethical guidelines. 
  4. Demonstrates and exhibits an understanding of providing pervasive customer service.
  5. Exhibits an understanding of appropriate transportation with the department of transportation.
  6. Able to operate vehicle during daylight and evening hours and maintain calm while driving in all conditions (i.e. inclement weather). Maintain a driving record with no traffic violations.
  7. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Prolonged standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
  2. Heavy physical effort lift, carry up to 60 lbs.
  3. Good manual dexterity.
  4. Good reading eyesight. Ability to distinguish colors while driving in daylight and evening hours.
  5. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
