Position Summary:

The Lending Library Assistant is dedicated to supporting the efficient operations of the K12 Assistive Technology Lending Library. This role is integral to offering students with disabilities in Indiana PK-12 schools access to a diverse range of assistive devices for short-term loans and device demonstrations. The Assistant's responsibilities include aiding in the inventory management of the lending library, maintaining the online equipment library database, providing support during device demonstrations, and assisting students and educators in selecting appropriate assistive technology solutions. This position works closely with the Lending Library Lead to ensure the smooth operation of the K12 Assistive Technology Lending Library.

Essential Functions:

- Assist in the organization and upkeep of the lending library's equipment inventory, ensuring the availability and proper functionality of devices.

- Help maintain the accuracy and relevancy of the online equipment library database.

- Support adaptive technology device demonstrations, helping to showcase the capabilities and benefits of various assistive devices.

- Aid students and educators in selecting appropriate devices for short-term loans, addressing their specific technology needs.

- Collaborate with the Lending Library Lead and other team members to ensure seamless coordination of lending library operations, enhancing overall efficiency.

- Participate in marketing and outreach activities, contributing to school events, training sessions, and informative materials to promote the lending library's offerings.

- Assist in maintaining the readiness of the K12 Assistive Technology Lending Library, ensuring that all equipment is properly functioning and prepared for tours and demonstrations.

- Stay informed about advancements in assistive technology, ensuring the lending library's offerings remain current and relevant to the needs of students and educators.

Education, Licenses, or Certifications:

- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.

Experience required:

- Strong computer skills for communication and data tracking/reporting

General Skills:

- Ability to prioritize and provide self-direction.

- Ability and desire to learn new systems and technology solutions.

- Ability to communicate and maintain good relationships and interactions with consumers, staff, agency personnel and persons in the community.

Competencies: 

- Strong understanding of technology including Windows, MS Applications, and Apple

- Strong understanding of assistive technology services, equipment, and best practices.

Physical Requirements:

- Required physical activities: Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, heavy lifting, grasping, talking, hearing and visual acuity.

- Medium Work: lifting up to 26-50 pounds occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently.

Working Hours: - Schedule varies, typically 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday. 20 hours per week.
