Sr VP Global Planning and Supply Chain
Overall Responsibilities: The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Global Planning and Supply Chain at SMTC is a critical member of the executive leadership team, responsible for driving strategic and operational excellence across the company’s global supply chain. This position will lead a high-performing team to oversee end-to-end supply chain operations, including planning, procurement, inventory management, warehousing, and logistics. The SVP will play a pivotal role in transforming the global supply chain to meet the company’s long-term business objectives.
This role requires a visionary leader with a strong track record of delivering cost reductions, mitigating supply chain risk, and implementing sustainability initiatives. The SVP will be responsible for supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, and vendor performance to ensure operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
Duties:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive global supply chain strategy aligned with SMTC’s corporate objectives, focusing on operational efficiency, cost reduction, risk management, and sustainability.
- Lead global supply chain transformation initiatives to create a more agile, resilient, and cost-effective supply chain.
- Identify opportunities for supply chain optimization and continuous improvement to drive competitive advantage.
- Align supply chain operations with SMTC’s core values, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
- Oversee day-to-day supply chain functions, including planning, procurement, inventory, warehousing, and logistics, ensuring timely production and delivery.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance, implementing robust vendor scorecards and driving improvements in cost, quality, and delivery.
- Lead contract negotiations with key suppliers and vendors to establish favorable terms and build long-term strategic partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and SMTC’s internal policies across the entire supply chain.
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring business continuity and minimizing disruptions.
- Drive the adoption of sustainable supply chain practices, promoting environmental responsibility and social impact initiatives.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing supply chain team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
- Champion SMTC’s core values, ensuring alignment across the team and promoting a strong, unified culture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders in manufacturing, engineering, and finance to support broader business objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive supply chain leadership experience, with a proven track record of driving operational excellence, transformation, and cost reduction.
- Experience overseeing supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and vendor performance management.
- Deep knowledge of supply chain best practices, including demand planning, procurement, inventory control, and logistics.
- Experience in electronics manufacturing, PCBA, box builds, cable assembly, and/or sheet metal manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale global supply chain transformation initiatives.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while analyzing data, developing strategies, and leading virtual meetings.
- Regularly moves within office and manufacturing areas to collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Frequently operates office productivity equipment, including a computer, to manage supply chain systems and prepare reports.
- Occasionally travels to supplier, customer, and company sites to oversee supply chain operations and support business objectives.
- Communicates effectively with executive leadership, suppliers, and internal teams to align strategies and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
