What you'll do:The Senior Vice President of Information Technology will be responsible for shaping and executing the company’s enterprise IT strategy, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance systems suitable for a highly innovative organization. This is a transformational role that will elevate the impact of IT across a growing, global, technology-leading organization. A key aspect of this role will involve fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusivity, ensuring IT is aligned with business goals and serves as a strategic partner. This will require extensive stakeholder engagement at all levels, from delivery teams to executive leadership. While this is a strategic role, it is also essential that the successful candidate understands how to work in a SME environment, bringing a hands-on approach to leadership and driving change.
The day-to-day:• Define and lead the company’s IT vision, infrastructure strategy, automation, and digital enterprise roadmap, ensuring that it supports growth and aligns with broader organizational goals.
• Build and develop a high-performing IT team with a focus on customer experience, innovation, service delivery, high-quality support, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with stakeholders to streamline operations, optimize collaboration tools, and improve business processes through automation and integration.
• Converts strategy into a governed portfolio with measurable value; sets a KPI tree (availability, time-to-value, cost-to-serve) and drives continuous improvement.
• Ensure that the IT strategy drives innovation, efficiency, and high performance through the use of scalable technology.
• Operate and optimize enterprise systems including cloud environments, desktop, SaaS platforms, business applications, and internal tools.
• Build a resilient, secure, and scalable infrastructure aligned with compliance and data governance requirements.
• Partner with security leadership to provide secure operations that enable the business and meet the requirements of providing services to international government customers.
• Implement data architecture and data governance that deliver reporting and analytical capabilities as a competitive advantage for Viasat.
• Lead a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
• Operate and manage the financial performance of the IT organization and own the strategic and operational relationships with technology vendors and global delivery teams.
Build technology talent pipelines to meet current and future needs.
• Oversight for the design, development, and execution of ERP and similar enterprise systems, with experience executing and supporting business in large-scale organizations.
• Define and track performance metrics, SLAs, and KPIs across IT functions, ensuring their effective delivery and support for business performance goals.
• Lead IT integration planning and execution during acquisitions or major business transformations.
• Implement IT policies, compliance programs, audits, and enterprise IT governance frameworks.
• Develop cross-functional IT investment governance, annual planning, and portfolio prioritization in line with overall business goals.
• 15+ years of leadership experience in enterprise IT or technology infrastructure, with demonstrable experience operating and influencing at a senior level.
• Proven experience in leading and developing people to implement scalable systems and IT strategies that support the growth of high-performing businesses.
• Deep knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), cybersecurity best practices, and modern SaaS ecosystems.
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, data governance, digital transformation, and foundational security principles and practices.
• Experience establishing and executing ERP, HRIS, and other corporate enterprise transformation solutions with relevant stakeholders, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
• Experience leading and managing cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide IT change initiatives.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience establishing new strategic vendors and global delivery teams.
• Experience operating and modernizing legacy systems and capabilities, while building and executing replacement strategies.
• Strong leadership experience in managing teams and collaborating across functions.
• Ability to communicate complex technology concepts in business-relevant terms.
• Personal Mastery: High emotional intelligence and the ability to lead with empathy and resilience.
• Passion for High Performance: Focused on delivering results quickly while maintaining quality.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Salary range:$258,500.00 - $368,000.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $313,000.00- $423,000.00/ annually :At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
