The Senior Counselor is responsible to implement services of the PGYCC project, serving as both a Program Mentor and a Senior Mentor. The Senior Counselor provides oversight of services, monitors the assigned tasks of counselors, serves as a liaison between project staff and PGYCC personnel, conducts trainings and meetings, and works directly with youth participants.

What You Will Do:
Assists the Engagement Director to oversee the service delivery of the program.
Assists in monitoring assigned tasks of counselors; participates in service delivery.
Participates in planning and facilitating services prescribed in the work plan.
Assists in identifying and coordinating facilitation of evidence-based programming.
Provides and assists in staff supervision; reviews counselor records for quality control and accuracy.
Ensures timely and accurate submission of required documentation.
Serves as a liaison between counselors, coordinator, and PGYCC personnel.
Conducts evidence-based workshops; attends staff meetings and team conferences.
Attends to client needs in a thorough and timely manner; speaks of and to clients with dignity and respect; maintains confidentiality, ethics, and professional conduct.
Provides individual counseling services and conducts groups, rap sessions.
Recognizes and responds to high risk factors including suicidal and homicidal ideations.
Recognizes and defuses volatile or dangerous situations as allowable.
Follows established Federal and State guidelines on confidentiality.
Maintains current knowledge regarding counseling skills, prevention risk, and protective factors.
Seeks supervision and consultation as needed.
Plans and participates in community cultural and recreational activities, attends trainings for skill development.
Models professional behaviors supervises counseling staff, makes caseload assignments, assists in ensuring record keeping is accurate and timely; assists in developing and evaluating work plan goals and attainment.
Monitors program census and assists in development and implementation of recruitment strategies.
Assists in supervising, training, and addressing staff issues.
Reviews, approves, and makes recommendations regarding documentation and client goals.
Represents Engagement Director in his/her absence, leads or co-leads staff meetings, assists in interviewing prospective candidates and determining staff evaluations; maintains a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a full staff complement of well-qualified individuals
Addresses staff/client complaints and assists in resolving them.
Handles all local operations and functions related to PGYCC
Liaises between PGYCC and Amity Foundation to ensure a therapeutic program environment that is individualized for each youth, structured to include a daily regimen that promotes positive change.
Provides written documentation required for PGYCC reporting requirements
Continued training as required by contract and applicable government agency.
Additional duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
Education and licensed as a psychologist, social worker, or licensed marriage and family therapist, OR
Certification in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), OR
Two (2) years of experience conducting professional counseling in a community organization or treatment center established for the purpose of aiding individuals with alcohol related psychological, social, or physical problems, OR
Three (3) years of experience in social casework or teaching experience with youthful offenders.
Must pass a background check administered by CDCR.
Preferred:
CDCR prefers Amity (the Contractor) to hire PCs who are formerly incarcerated, or justice involved individuals who have demonstrated the ability to live productive and law-abiding lives since discharge from the criminal justice system.
