Technical Director Aerospace is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the company in the advanced composite market.  The Technical Director works with  Aerospace Market Leadership Team to 1) help establish company’s vision for the market and 2) grow the company through the use of technological resources to attain the company’s strategic goals.  These strategies include the tactics and execution to: (i) CREATE new opportunities and pipeline for future business, (ii) compete and WIN new opportunities in order to generate profitable new revenue growth, and (iii) retain and GROW our relationships with our most strategic customers in order to build profitable, sustainable, and predictable revenue growth for our employee owners.  A Technical Director is a technical businessperson critical in shaping and implementing overall corporate strategy in the advanced composite market.

Functional Responsibilities & Description:

Monitoring and Assessing New Technologies
  • Conducts research and studies on leading edge technologies
  • Determines the value proposition in the marketplace and the probability of implementation.
  • Identify, access, and explore high-risk, high-return technologies with potential application within existing businesses and/or new business models.
Strategic Innovation
  • Establish the company’s technical vision and leads all aspects of the company’s technological development in the market that is consistent with Web’s corporate strategy.
  • Directs the company’s strategic direction, development and future by defining what the company’s products and technologies could develop in three or more years.
Marketing and Customer Relations
  • Works in a partnership with sales and marketing team to enable more effective sales opportunity management.
  • Translate technical details into real customer advantages that are superior to those of competing options in front of strategic partners
  • Work with production and operations as a consultant of technologies that can improve their effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Participates in professional organizations and associated meetings and creates opportunities to project a positive image within the profession and to communicate important messages to the industry.
Company Culture
  • Provide leadership internally in a fashion that supports the company’s culture, mission and values.
  • Acts as a good steward of Web Industries’ resources and ensures control of Web’s IP management.
  • Install policies and practices that are constructed to attract the right kind, right number, and right placement of technical assets for current and future needs

Working Relationships: 

  •  Director of R&T (HQ) – Will work closely with this role and collaborate on strategic goals and projects as well as contribute to long term capabilities and Capex budgets
  • Executive Team / Corporate Officers:  Shared business objectives for the market and for the company as a unified management team.  Participation in strategy development for the market.
  • Web Industries Technical team:  Providing direct coaching, mentoring, guidance, training, performance management, and support to continually improve new trial/technology development performance in order to drive the results needed to achieve our goals in the market.
  • Web Industries Sales and Operations Directors and Management team members:  Partnering, advising, and support on selected issues, in collaboration with their direct superior.
  • Web Industries Prospects and Customers:   Participation in key account opportunity strategies, sales pursuits, solution creation, negotiations, account management, and even complaint resolution with key strategic prospects and customers.
  • Web Industries Employees:  Demonstrate active leadership through communication, counseling, relationship building, and empowering actions.

 Education and Experience: 

  • BS in Engineering and 20+ years of experience in the Aerospace technology arena
  • 10+ years management/strategic experience in manufacturing or MBA/MS in related filed with 15+ years of technical and managerial/strategic experience.

To conform to U.S. Government aerospace and defense technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
