Ipswich Borough Council are looking to appoint a Show and Events Coordinator to work at The Regent Theatre in Ipswich.
The Grade II Listed Regent Theatre is the largest theatre in East Anglia with seating for 1551 people. It presents an engaging programme of concerts, gigs, West End musicals, comedy, and an annual traditional family pantomime.
The historic Corn Exchange is part of Ipswich’s impressive Town Hall and when used as a theatre has adaptable seating for 800. The venue presents a very wide variety of events, with everything from concerts and conferences to wrestling and darts.
We pride ourselves on delivering a great customer experience, whether front of house or backstage and we get to work with some of the UK’s biggest promoters and producers.
This role is at the forefront of everything we do, and you will be the first point of contact to producers, promoters and agents, leading on their visit to our venues.
You will need to demonstrate a can-do attitude, work to tight deadlines and be strong
communicator. The workload is varied throughout the year and some flexibility in working pattens is expected.
You’ll need a good level of technical knowledge - our venues can be challenging, but we have built up an industry reputation on making the impossible happen so you will need to demonstrate some technical ability across sound, lighting, rigging and staging. Everything starts with the technical rider and specification and cad drawings, so you’ll need to decipher these and make them relevant to our venue.
Forward planning is key to this role and being able to think outside of the box. Managing time will help with this so if you are methodical and organised in your work life, this could be the next position for you.
The team includes technicians and casuals supported by agency crew so good leadership, verbal and written skills is paramount to bringing everyone together with a good level of IT knowledge.
Everything we do is underpinned by a strong Health and Safety ethos so you will need a comprehensive understanding of this to ensure we operate in a safe environment.
Someone creative and proactive, with a great work ethic and the ability to deliver results in a fast-moving arts environment
A-level standard or equivalent experience in a technical related profession.
Hours of work are 37 per week, including some weekend
The post holder will be required to work a rota, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
As well as a good salary, we offer:
- a career average pension scheme
- generous holiday and sick pay entitlements
- subsidised parking for work and leisure
- public transport discounts
- free swimming and gym membership
- cycle purchase scheme
- plenty of personal and professional development opportunities
- flexible working
- hybrid working opportunities
- Employee Assistance Programme
- the opportunity to work with great colleagues.
