POSITION SUMMARY 

The Department of Neurology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full time Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology in the Neurology Neuromuscular Division. The incumbent will be involved in the clinical care of neuromuscular patients at the UHealth clinics, University of Miami Hospital, and Jackson Memorial Hospital. The incumbent will be appointed at the rank of non-tenure earning Assistant Professor on the clinical educator track in the Neuromuscular Division, Department of Neurology at the University of Miami School of Medicine.  

 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Care for patients in the UHealth outpatient settings  

  • Conduct EMGs at Uhealth, JMH and develop the EMG service at Uhealth Tower  

  • Train/mentor physicians and staff  

  • Preparation and presentation at teaching conferences  

  • Develop research program in Neuromuscular Disorder  

  • Obtain data and results that can be used to submit an application for future clinical research awards  

  • Will conduct EMGs testing at Uhealth and JMH clinics and develop the EMG service at the University of Miami Hospital  

  • Will participate in the educational and mentorship activities of the Neuromuscular Division and the Department of Neurology  

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Education and experience: 

  • Requires an MD degree from a recognized accredited University (or foreign equivalent)  

  • Neuromuscular Fellowship is also required and board certification in Neurology is strongly recommended  

  • Eligible for Florida Medical License  

  • Strong clinical and research background in the areas of clinical or translational research in Neuromuscular Disorder  

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities: 

  • Good communications skills (face to face, over the phone and in writing) 

  • Excellent customer service skills Ability to work collaboratively with other employees. 

  • Good organizational skills.  

 

WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS 

Work conditions:  work is normally performed in an indoor office environment. Subject to frequent interruptions. 

Physical Activity Requirements:   

  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or by telephone. 

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard and other office equipment. 

  • Reaching to retrieve and maintain files. 

  • Bending, pushing, moving and lifting files, documents and objects weighing up to approximately 15-20 pounds.
