QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet the licensure & certification requirements for the State of Delaware.
REPORTS TO: School Principal or Assistant Principal
LOCATION: Lake Forest High School
JOB GOAL: The Dean of Students will foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment by promoting positive student behavior, addressing disciplinary concerns, and building strong partnerships among students, staff, and families. The Dean will lead initiatives to improve attendance, engagement, and school culture, ensuring all students are positioned for academic and personal success.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with classroom referrals and support consistent implementation of school-wide expectations and policies.
Promote a positive school climate and culture aligned with district values.
Assist with student attendance and developing interventions to improve chronic absenteeism.
Coordinate peer mediation, mentoring programs, and student leadership opportunities.
Assist with the implementation of PBIS, SEL, and MTSS frameworks.
Partner with parents/guardians to support student success and resolve concerns.
Serve on building-level leadership and crisis response teams.
Assist with supervision of school events, extracurricular activities, and daily operations (arrival, dismissal, lunch, etc.).
Provide professional development to staff on classroom management, student engagement, and equity practices.
Assists in the interpretation of school and district programs, policies, and procedures to students, parents, staff, and community.
Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with campus control and security, as well as campus supervision.
Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, support personnel, and students on matters of discipline and welfare.
Regularly review and analyze student data (attendance, discipline, academic performance, and behavior trends) to identify patterns, develop interventions, and inform decision-making that supports student success.
Coordinate Credit Recovery programs.
Act as the principal’s designee in specific cases as assigned.
Other duties assigned by the school principal that pertain to the position of Dean of Students.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside of the instructional day per the LFEA agreement.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.

Documentation of Mantoux skin test results for entrance to school system.
