We are a specialty vaccine company that develops, manufactures, and commercializes prophylactic vaccines for infectious diseases addressing unmet medical needs.

We have leveraged our expertise and capabilities both to commercialize four vaccines, including the world’s first and only chikungunya vaccine, Dukoral and Ixiaro vaccines and to rapidly advance a broad range of vaccine candidates into and through the clinic, including candidates against Lyme disease, Shigella and Zika.

The accountant position at Valneva Canada encompasses accounting and financial control duties for the entity as well as some HR and Commercial Operations processing tasks, The role has responsibilities in the fields of Financial Reporting, Transactional Accounting, Payroll & Benefits Administration, Compliance & Control, Audit, and Commercial Operations. The primary responsibility of this role is to process all day-to-day tasks in the described fields. Aspiring to develop in the fields of FP&A and Presenting to Valneva Leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting (monthly/quarterly/yearly closings)
  • Transactional Accounting: Receivables (and “O2C” control), mainly in a supervisory capacit,y i.e,. Overseeing 3PL service provider’s delegated administration thereof, though getting involved directly with customers as necessary (past dues, special cases)
  • Transactional Accounting: support Payables (and “P2P” control)
  • Payroll & Benefits Administration
  • Compliance & Control (SOX and Tax administration)
  • Audit i.e. Assistance to the auditors (external and internal)
  • Collaborate and provide performance insights to Valneva Canada’s General Manager and commercial organization.
  • Commercial Operations Reporting (e.g. SnOP, sales volume/revenue reporting)
  • Assistance to Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) i.e. Budgeting, forecasting, analysis and analytical reporting

Requirements

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years' experience in financial controllership or a similar field

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills:

  • Financial Accounting & Reporting
  • Good understanding of Compliance & Control aspects (SOX)
  • Good understanding of Canadian Tax regulations and compliance (income tax, VAT, payroll)
  • Excellent Communication and Inter-personal skills (audiences at all levels, manage information flows 3PL, Hub, US Team, Canada GM and team, external tax advisor, global Finance team)
  • Fluency in English and French languages (written/spoken)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Payroll & Benefits
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) (not required but a plus)
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft AX or a similar ERP system is a plus.
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Previous pharma industry experience a plus.
