The Department of Psychology & Counselor Education at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids,

Michigan invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Counselor Education. This is a

full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Counselor Educator position starting as early as

January 2026 or August 2026. Opportunities for summer teaching are also available. The

MAC Program Assistant Professor will work under the direction of the MAC Program

Director and the Provost.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching: Teach three graduate level clinical counseling courses/semester. A summer

contract will be available for teaching additional courses if desired. Develop and maintain

competence with web assisted teaching technology.

Student Advisement, Recruitment, Selection and Evaluation: Advise MAC students, assist

with recruitment of qualified students, assist with new student orientation, and serve on

program committees for admissions and remediation to assess student progress

throughout the program.


CACREP Accreditation: The successful candidate will assist in the CACREP accreditation

process including participation with conducting and writing the self-study, implementing

and maintaining CACREP standards, and participation in ongoing program assessment.

Scholarship: The successful candidate will develop and maintain a program of scholarship

in their area of interest/expertise. Candidates are encouraged to engage students in their

research whenever possible.


Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum requirements include a Doctorate in Counselor Education, preferably from a

CACREP program. 

Must be eligible for the LPC in Michigan. Our expectation is that the

successful candidate will obtain Michigan licensure by the end of their second year.

Experience in teaching, counseling, and clinical supervision of counselors-in-training is

preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered. As an educational community that
