Description
The Senior Marketing and Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s market presence and driving strategic growth. This leader oversees business development and marketing initiatives across assigned market segments and regions, aligning efforts with the company’s multi-year Strategic Plan and annual business plans. The Senior Manager collaborates closely with executives, technical leaders, and the marketing team to develop effective client engagement strategies, guide high-priority pursuits, and mentor marketing professionals. Additionally, this role builds strong external relationships and ensures marketing and business development efforts are aligned with the organization’s long-term goals.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with marketing team, executive leadership, discipline leaders and other key stakeholders to define and execute the organization’s business development and marketing strategy for assigned market segment(s).
- Identifies and vets new project opportunities in collaboration with marketing and technical team leaders in assigned market segments and geographic regions.
- Trains, motivates, and mentors marketing colleagues to execute business-development goals and outreach strategies.
- Provides strategic leadership for and review of high-priority and competitive proposal efforts, offering guidance to marketing colleagues and ensuring compelling and competitive submissions.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with key clients, teaming partners, and agencies to gather intelligence and identify future project opportunities.
- Plans and executes marketing and business development initiatives that drive revenue growth, strengthen client experience, and increase brand recognition.
- Leads market research (government and industry trends, policy shifts, and funding) and competitive analysis efforts to identify specific opportunities.
- Identifies opportunities for technical staff to build and strengthen client relationships, including participation in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Represents the firm as a leader in the profession by participating and assuming leadership responsibilities in community, industry and client-driven events and organizations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in marketing, business development, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead high-performance, results-driven teams and manage complex, multi-location initiatives.
- Proven success in developing and executing growth strategies that deliver measurable results.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications and marketing software; experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) preferred.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to balance long-term strategic vision with day-to-day execution.
- High level of professional integrity, accountability, and the ability to navigate complex challenges effectively.
- Current knowledge of industry trends and best practices, with the ability to adapt strategies in response to evolving market conditions.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Normal office environment with moderate noise levels, occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., prolonged sitting and regular walking, bending, standing and reaching.
- Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged view of a monitor/screen.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%, as needed.
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position, located inSan Diego, CA, is $109,800 – $168,200 annualluy. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers’ salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package, employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering, subject to program eligibility requirements.
