Building Health Liaison - Manor Elementary School This is a contracted support position that will be paid $19.50 per hour for up to 40 hours per week on an instructional year calendar.
Reports to: Building Principal and District Registered Nurses
Job Goal: The Building Level Health Liaison will work under the direction of the building principal in collaboration with the district nursing team to provide support, planning, and documentation in addressing the health needs of students; assisting in implementing the school health program; maintaining medical/dietary records and providing appropriate care and/or referral for medically and/or dietary fragile students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with managing and maintaining student health records, including health care plans, immunization records, and emergency health information.
Administer first aid and emergency care in accordance with school district policies and procedures.
Support students with chronic health conditions or special medical needs.
Provide health-related education to students, staff, and parents as directed by the district nurses.
Facilitate the management of student medications and treatments according to district policy.
Ensure compliance with state and district health regulations.
Assist in health screenings, including checks for general health concerns, parasites, and conditions affecting student well-being.
Assist in implementing the school health program as directed by the building principal and the district nurses.
Maintain medical and dietary records for fragile students and provide appropriate care or referrals.
Qualifications:
Must possess a high school diploma; college degree preferred.
Must possess a current Medical Assistant Certification or Certified Nurse Assistant credential or equivalent medical qualifications.
Experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing is desired.
Must be certified in CPR and basic First Aid.
Strong analytical and computer skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and strong communication abilities are required.
Basic knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations related to public health is desired.
Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
General knowledge of public health management information systems and how to use them to support the school environment preferred.
Practical experience and proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
A willingness to learn and become proficient with all current district standard software.
Demonstrates interest and participation in professional growth activities such as advanced coursework, in-service programs, and conference attendance.
Demonstrates a verifiable record of excellent, positive, and productive relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds, and a commitment to equal opportunity for all.
