Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Management, Public Health, or a related field preferred.
At least 3–5 years of experience in food service management, preferably in a K–12 school setting.
Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and managing federal/state nutrition program grants.
Registered Dietitian (RD) or School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) credential preferred.
Valid ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Experience with use of technology and point of service software.
Strong knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs (NSLP, SBP, CACFP, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and manage a team effectively.
Excellent organizational, budgeting, communication, and computer skills.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
Supervise and manage daily operations of all school food service programs across the district.
Supervises all Cafeteria Management and Child Nutrition staff.
Ensure compliance with all USDA, Delaware DOE, and local health department regulations.
Oversees all financial, personnel, and payroll needs and functions.
Develop and maintain detailed operating budgets for the nutrition department.
Monitor financial performance, track expenditures, and ensure efficient allocation of resources.
Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Identify, apply for, and manage nutrition-related grants.
Ensure proper use, tracking, and compliance with grant funding and reporting requirements.
Collaborate with finance and administrative staff to support audits and compliance reviews.
Create and implement cost-control measures, including efficient inventory and procurement systems.
Design and implement menus that meet student needs, USDA standards, and budgetary goals.
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate food service personnel; ensure ongoing professional development.
Implement and monitor food safety and sanitation practices in all cafeterias.
Foster a positive and inclusive culture within the nutrition department, promoting teamwork, respect, and accountability.
Provide leadership that encourages morale, staff engagement, and pride in service.
Regularly visit school sites to support staff, reinforce expectations, and build relationships with school teams.
Collaborate with building administrators to align food service operations with school schedules, events, and educational priorities.
Serve as a liaison between food service staff and school leadership to ensure clear communication and mutual support.
Participate in district-level leadership meetings and wellness committees to align nutrition services with broader district goals.
Develop, promote, and implement nutrition initiatives and programs that introduce students and staff to a variety of new, healthy, and culturally diverse food options, fostering positive attitudes toward balanced eating habits.
Communicate effectively with parents, staff, students, and external agencies regarding program operations.
Stay current with evolving best practices, regulations, and technologies in school nutrition.
Perform other duties as assigned.
