Mens Outdoor Track Coach at Asheville City Schools

Asheville is seeking a dedicated and passionate Men’s Outdoor Track Coach to lead and develop our high school track program. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, competitive, and inclusive environment while promoting athletic and personal growth among student-athletes.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, organize, and implement a comprehensive outdoor track program that aligns with the school’s athletic mission.

• Instruct athletes in the fundamentals, techniques, and strategies of running mechanics.

• Plan and lead practices, conditioning programs, and skill development sessions.

• Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and academic achievement among student-athletes.

• Oversee coaching staff, assistant coaches, and volunteers within the program.

• Manage team selection, competition lineups, and in-season adjustments.

• Ensure adherence to all school, district, and state athletic association rules and policies.

• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration.

• Organize and participate in fundraising, community outreach, and program-building activities.

• Maintain an inventory of equipment and uniforms.

• Advocate for and support the growth of track and field within the school and community.
   

Qualifications:

• Prior coaching experience in track and field, preferably at the high school level.

• Knowledge of track and field techniques, training methods, and safety protocols.

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.

• CPR/First Aid and coaching certifications (or willingness to obtain).

• Compliance with all background checks and school district requirements.
   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience coaching track and field events.

• Collegiate track experience is a plus.

• Teaching certification (if applying for a faculty position).
