Key Responsibilities
- Undertake the teaching and assessment of Performing Arts/Dance/Singing for Level 2 and 3
- Undertake the LAP leader role for Level 2 Performing Arts if required
- Lead and direct an appropriate range of productions
- Undertake the teaching, assessment and co-ordination of the Welsh Baccalaureate and/or Essential Skills Wales
- Deliver and promote Skills development and work to produce successful candidates to apply to Higher Education and Vocational School/ colleges
- Actively work to develop recruitment through the creation of projects and engagement with local schools whilst promoting internal and external marketing opportunities
- Actively seek creative collaboration opportunities between creative industry departments and external providers
- Actively create and promote a diverse programme of activities that include masterclasses/workshops and visits to enhance the learners’ experiences
- Liaise with creative industries colleagues, managers and directors to ensure an effective learner experience and successful outcome
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree or equivalent qualification
- Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification as at the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date)
- GCSE English at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
- GCSE Mathematics at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent
- Documented evidence of appropriate Professional Development
- Good literacy/numeracy/digital literacy skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Excellent punctuality and ability to work flexibly
Desirable Criteria:
- Relevant teaching experience
- A good understanding of relevant issues in post 16 education
- A proven track record of high levels of learner attainment
- Awareness of key performance indicators
- Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities
- Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance
- Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people
Welsh Language Requirements:
- Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1
- Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1
