Vast is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Technician to join our Long Beach team, reporting to the Supervisor of Additive Manufacturing. In this full-time, non-exempt role, you will operate and maintain our growing inventory of cutting-edge additive machines. You’ll also play a key role in advancing our additive manufacturing operations—from post-processing to quality control—helping us mature and improve capabilities as we scale.
Shift Schedule:
- First Shift: 6:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M
Responsibilities:
- Set up AM print jobs, verify machine settings against best practices, and oversee the print process and quality during operation
- Safely handle metal powder before and after builds, including sieving, loading, part de-powdering, measuring, and safe storage
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-maintained workspace
- Develop and implement process efficiency improvements
- Independently perform verifications and document results clearly and completely
- Operate post-processing equipment (e.g., drills, handheld grinders) as required
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot manufacturing hardware
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school degree, equivalency certificate, or equivalent work experience
- 1+ years of manufacturing experience, including at least 1 year in additive manufacturing (Laser Powder Bed Fusion)
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from drawings and controlled documentation (assembly procedures, work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, parts lists)
- Experience in aerospace or military manufacturing environments (spacecraft, aircraft, etc.)
- Proven initiative and ability to engage others, helping drive team performance to higher levels
- Familiarity with handling metal powders (a plus)
- Experience contributing to the maturation and continuous improvement of additive manufacturing processes
- Hands-on experience with Velo3D, EOS, or similar additive manufacturing machines
Additional Requirements:
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary
Pay Range:
- Additive Manufacturing Technician I: $23.00 - $30.00
- Additive Manufacturing Technician II: $28.00 - $35.00
- Additive Manufacturing Technician III: $33.00 - $45.00
