Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, plans and executes laboratory projects and experiments related to sequencing DNA and RNA samples. Performs technical tasks in the field of molecular biology, genomics, etc. Analyses and interprets data. Acts as resource person, resolves problems and instructs others. Maintains equipment.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plans and executes laboratory projects and experiments within objectives set by supervisor.
- Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks in the field of genomics: constructs libraries, performs quality controls, operates liquid handlers and high throughput sequencing instruments, etc.
- Uses LIMS and workflows.
- Compiles experimental and analytical data. Prepares reports. Analyzes and discusses results and their interpretation with others. Maintains records and files.
- Maintains equipment and performs minor repairs. Arranges for servicing.
- Uses a variety of equipment such as pipettors, centrifuges, thermocyclers, sequencing instruments, spectrophotometers, electrophoresis apparatus, biological safety cabinets, computers and audio-visual equipment.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Experience in a genomics laboratory, preferably in a high throughput next generation sequencing environment. Previous experience in a regulated laboratory environment (SOP adherence, GLP, ISO, CLIA, etc.). Previous experience with automated lab workflows and automation, optimization thereof. Solid background in molecular biology with a specialization in current genomics protocols and the latest technologies. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work well both individually and as part of a team. Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and MS Office software. Bilingualism: French and English, spoken and written.
