Associate Director – Deal Development – Immunology

The Associate Director – Deal Development – Immunology plays an integral role in helping Lilly become our customers’ preferred company and preserving shareholder health by delivering the best possible information to Lilly’s decision-makers and National Deal Developers by modeling and developing deal structures that our customers understand and value.  The Associate Director – Deal Development – Immunology is also responsible for continuous monitoring of brand performance at each account to allow for improvement in our deal modeling capabilities, negotiation strategy and tactics and brand payer strategy post-launch. The complex, rapidly changing healthcare environment requires the Associate Director – Deal Development – Immunology position to be a passionate, honorable, agile learner who’s both accountable and adaptable as he/she proactively leads the deal valuation process and post-deal analysis for assigned therapeutic area/brand(s) across accounts.  Analytical skills, attention to detail, customer service orientation and strong communication skills are critical in developing and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and stress tolerant, with demonstrated skills in collaboration/teamwork, influence, compliance, judgment, time management, solving problems and building trust.

Summary of Job Responsibilities

  • Use analytical skills to identify key variables and explore possible scenarios/options; adjust project plans; forecast deal scenarios using resources such as the Market Access Analytics Tool; compile input; and craft succinct financial business cases.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with the National Deal Developers to understand timelines and support development of deal valuations and governance presentation materials with real-time modeling and subject-matter expertise on assigned therapeutic area/brand(s).

  • Conduct pre-deal and post-deal research by engaging Account Management, Brand teams and additional subject matter experts both inside LVA and outside LVA (finance, BI&A, etc.), exploring assumptions, and analyzing disparate data sources and inputs.

  • Actively engage as a subject matter expert on assigned therapeutic area/brand(s) through the performance tracking process to understand brand performance at the account level. Collaborate with Account Managers, Brand Teams, Demand Realization, and other LVA colleagues to identify, communicate, and act on learnings.

  • Maintain the enterprise deal summary for assigned therapeutic area/brand(s) and collaborate with brand payer team(s) on overall access strategies.

  • Align, present and secure approval for select accounts by refining presentation pre-reads and supporting recommendations with thoughtful strategic considerations; building buy-in from Account Management and Brand teams; finalizing presentations and preparing to engage with leadership and answer questions; presenting cases to the Deal Review Board and the Pricing Reimbursement and Access Steering Committee; and securing FRAP and governance approval, inputting into contract management systems for secure signoff at appropriate level.

  • Coordinate with the Contract Development teams to help translate customer requirements into legal documents as necessary.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Lilly’s and LVA’s vision, mission, and business strategies/goals. Understand Lilly’s products and pipeline, the science behind them and how they can bring value to the customer. Know Lilly’s position in assigned therapeutic area and the supply chain for the continuum of therapies. Understand the broad range of stakeholders and the roles they play. Show knowledge of Lilly’s myriad resources and how to access them fully when needed. Understand Lilly’s compliance requirements and Lilly-required processes.

  • Display knowledge of Lilly’s competitors, including marketplace and customer-specific strategies and goals, competitive products and pipeline, the science behind them and the value they bring to the customer.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Lilly’s processes and tools.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of customer(s), including the business and regulatory environments they operate in, their business model, strategies and goals, and their customers.

  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve Lilly’s people, systems and processes. Identify, test, measure, codify and share key learnings by following predefined processes, identifying opportunities and implementing improvements.

  • Inspire confidence and build trust by consistently delivering results.

Reporting Relationship

Associate Director – Deal Development – Immunology reports to the Executive Director – Deal Development.

Basic Requirement

  • College degree, preferably an analytical degree that emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving (e.g., Business, Finance, STEM, Legal)

  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and/or visas for this role.

Preferred Background

  • Experience that clearly demonstrates analytical capabilities

  • 12 months of prior Payer Contracting, Payer Marketing, or Payer Analytics experience

  • History of taking ownership and accountability for work produced

  • Demonstrated attention to detail

  • Experience in project and stakeholder management

  • Demonstrated sense of urgency in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$122,250 - $179,300

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
