Job Summary:
The Distribution Facility Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of the distribution facility.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises 1 – 5 employees.
- Recruits, interviews, hires and trains new staff or assist management with this process.
- Coordinates and oversees the day-to-day workflow of team members within the facility.
- Addresses employee concerns, conflicts, and personnel actions, including discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversees the operations of the distribution facility.
- Ensures completion of daily procedures, assigned tasks and duties, and customer service by other employees.
- Develops plans to meet company goals for the facility.
- Participates in the yearly budget process.
- Manages employees, work schedule planning, assets, and inventory to meet coverage needs and meet labor goals.
- Reviews monthly profit and loss statements and identify areas of concern.
- Listens to and resolves service complaints about the facility and facility employees.
- Reports any injuries or major damage to assets that belong to the distribution center.
- Opens and closes the facility as required.
- Meets or exceeds inventory shrink goals for the year.
- Makes decisions to improve productivity, reduce losses, maximize equipment performance, and improve quality of service to the stores.
- Ensures proper loading of merchandise onto delivery vehicles for conformance with loading patterns, and weight distribution requirements and to help prevent shifting or damage to materials or products during transit.
- Maintains and ensures compliance with control and audit systems that result in a safe and productive operation. Communicates and educates employees to follow procedures necessary for facility operations.
- Ensures the cleanliness and appearance of the facility by keeping the ground free of clutter including bands, chocks, and trash.
- Maximizes backhaul revenue using our fleet to reduce expenses.
- Works closely with the Director of Distribution, freight and logistics, millworks, and the merchandising department to ensure that distribution operations meet stores and companies’ expectations.
- Promote collaboration across various departments to ensure distribution processes are aligned with overall business functions.
- Creates a process to make sure we are accurate on picks and shipments.
- Ensures that proper security measures are in place and carried out by subordinate staff, including regular inspection of the yard.
- Ensures that daily inspection reports are completed on all fleet assets and ensures that maintenance is performed on all assets as needed.
- Attends and participates in all company-sponsored management training programs as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business administration, construction science, or equivalent preferred.
- At least five years of distribution is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to traverse throughout the facility.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
