Purpose and Scope:

The Trnancy Manager is responsible for developing and managing district-wide truancy prevention and intervention programs. This position calls for an innovative leader who can design creative strategies that address emerging attendance trends, meet legal requirements, and respond to community needs. The Truancy Manager should be adept at leveraging technology, building paitnerships, and using nontraditional approaches to engage students and families in reestablishing consistent school attendance.

 

Strong collaboration skills are essential for working effectively with schools, families, comts, law enforcement, and community organizations to address the root causes of truancy. A deep knowledge of state attendance laws and district policies is required, along with the ability to ensure compliance while promoting equitable, student-centered solutions that remove ba1Tiers to learning. This role is accountable for maintaining compliance with all state and federal attendance laws.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Monitor district-wide student attendance data to identify patterns and trends related to truancy.
  2. Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive truancy prevention programs to increase attendance awareness and engagement.
  3. Collaborate with school counselors, social workers, and administrators to design individualized intervention plans for chronically absent students.
  4. Oversee the execution of district-wide Parent-Student Suppmt Plans to address and remove ba1Tiers to daily attendance.
  5. Initiate timely inte1ventions for at-risk students to prevent escalation of truancy issues.
  6. Maintain detailed documentation of trnancy cases, including conununications, interventions, home visits, and legal proceedings.
  7. Track outcomes and monitor student progress to assess intervention effectiveness.
  8. Partner with Juvenile Comt to close cases when attendance improves, or legal actions are resolved.
  9. Conduct parent conferences and, when necessaiy, home visits to address attendance concerns and identify solutions.
  10. Refer students and families to appropiiate community-based support services.
  11. Support school site teams in developing and executing targeted truancy improvement strategies.
  12. Lead or pa1ticipate in Student Attendance Review Team (SART) and Student Attendance Review Board (SARB) meetings.
  13. Collaborate with legal entities, including juvenile comts, child welfare services, and law enforcement agencies, to address truancy cases.
  14. Represent the school distiict in truancy hearings and other comt preceedings.
  15. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local attendance and truancy regulations.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business or related field Plus an additional five (5) years related experience, preferably in an administrative or supervisory capacity, or equivalent, for a total education/experience of nine (9) years. Licensed administrator preferred. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

 

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s Degrees must be included.
