J&J Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Project Manager Engineering & Property Services based in Geel (Belgium).
At Engineering & Property Services (E&PS) we take care of all J&J buildings in Belgium providing services from Real Estate, Engineering & Strategic Project Delivery to Facilities Management. The Project Manager is accountable for the performance of assigned projects on the Geel site, leading projects through our standard Project management standards FPX (Flawless Project Execution) and IDEA (ideation, definition, execution and assessment phases). The major activities of the project manager are: driving innovation to ensure safety and appropriate quality, translate the need of our internal clients in a technical solution, using learning adoption internally and externally, coordinate and align a team of internal and external project members, ensure that our standards and agency regulations like FDA are followed. The candidate will join the E&PS Project delivery team composed of 12 project and Construction Managers.
The best candidate for this role has experience of leading end to end capital projects. They have good communication skills and knowledge of utilities, HVAC and E&I. Knowledge of the pharmaceutical or similar highly regulated industry is preferable. You are eager to learn continuously and like to work with many colleagues and partners across other functional areas who are involved in your projects. Making good relationships and align team members is something that gives you energy.
Key responsibilities
- Successfully handle multiple investment projects ranging from 500k€ to 10MM€ simultaneously
- Define and plan new projects in close collaboration with the business to deliver strategic solutions aligned with the company strategy.
- Acts as Project Lead on Projects from concept to post implementation stage in accordance with our standard IDEA process, together with A/E firms or directly with contractors.
- Lead project performance ensuring that cost, schedule, and cash-flow targets are met.
- Organize your project team and align with the interested parties.
- Translate the project definition in a design ensuring that elements of environment, health, safety, quality and life cycle are covered while maintaining the focus on constructability
- Lead Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) preparation, socialization, and submission, enabling fast and smooth approval in alignment to corporate funding procedures.
- Ensure alignment to policies, procedures, statutory and regulatory requirements and customer specifications.
- Develop the project execution plan, including relevant execution strategies for design, construction, procurement, risks etc. and adjust as needed during the project lifecycle.
- Define the communication plan and advise sponsor, user and other partners on a regular basis by creating, maintaining and communicating reports on project status (scope, budget, planning, risks and mitigations and overall performance against baseline targets)
- Lead a Construction Safety culture, acting as Construction Safety Champion, partnering with EHS ensuring that standards are implemented and portfolio safety metrics are met.
- Lead Project Close Out activities including operational handover, documentation archiving, financial project closure and value delivered, collation of benchmarking and lessons learned opportunities.
Education
- Master degree in Engineering or equivalent through experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent preferred
- Proficient in MS 365 and MS Project
Preferred
- Familiarity with J&J PM approaches (FPX & IDEA Project Delivery Process)
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Required:
- Minimum of 10 years of Project Management experience.
- Prior experience with capital projects in the industry
- Understands business needs and can translate these to engineering concepts
- Basic process understanding and interest in systems like (clean) utilities, clean-rooms, HVAC, E&I, environmental treatment systems, ...
- Ability to lead and empower (remote and virtual) teams and partners
- Good listening and problem-solving skills when handling potential conflicts within regions when implementing global standards and guidelines. Understanding sophisticated technical/regulatory issues impacting products.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships at all levels within the organization, internally (FM/GET/RE) and with Business partners (Finance/ E&D/ Operations)
- Knowledge of Project Controls in cost and schedule development, financial assessments and managing of budget and schedule
- Manufacturing experience in FDA or other regulated environments from design through startup is an advantage.
- Experience on contracting and negotiation
