The National Field Education Academic Lead has overall responsibility for Field Education (placements) in the Bachelor of Social Work and the Master of Social Work(Q) programs at ACAP University College. The incumbent will ensure quality of placements in accordance with the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS) set out by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
The position is responsible for the design, implementation and review of all field education units. They will support existing and new relationships with agencies, oversee the performance, grades and issues identified for student placements, and review student feedback and agency performance in terms of placement experience. The position will ensure all field education staff are supported and equipped to deal with all student placement issues.
Location is flexible. The successful applicant could be based at one of our campuses: Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide.
Qualifications:Essential:
- Eligibility for membership of the AASW
- Minimum of five years (FTE) of post-qualifying practice experience in core areas of social work practice
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and develop quality teaching materials, particularly in the Social Work Field Education program, utilising innovative strategies and contemporary information technologies.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with staff, students and industry.
- Current satisfactory Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or ability to obtain).
- Awareness of OHS responsibilities and willingness to attend OHS training as required.
Desirable:
- Doctoral qualification in Social Work or significant progress toward completion
- Demonstrated evidence of a growing scholarship/research track record (for career stage) in an area aligned with ACAP priority areas
- Experience supporting social work and/or community services placements
- Experience teaching in social work or cognate disciplines in a tertiary setting
- Experience using online placement management systems (SONIA)
- Experience working with international students
- Supervisory or management experience in agency-based settings
