The Managing Director, Co-brand and Partners is responsible for driving the long-term growth, optimization, and performance of American Airlines’ co-brand credit card portfolio and other strategic commercial partnerships.

What you'll do

  • Lead the strategic direction and performance management of the co-brand credit card portfolio, ensuring sustainable growth and long-term value creation.
  • Oversee and enhance contracts with multiple external partners, with a focus on delivering significant, sustainable performance improvements.
  • Identify and develop new revenue streams and breakthrough initiatives, particularly within the evolving partnership with Citi.
  • Lead complex contract negotiations that result in mutually beneficial outcomes, aligning with American Airlines’ strategic goals.
  • Cultivate strong, trust-based relationships with partners, grounded in creativity, bold thinking, and collaborative execution.
  • Foster a culture of cross-functional collaboration, where internal stakeholders are aligned, engaged, and empowered to support innovative outcomes.
  • Establish clear, actionable frameworks for managing complex agreements, negotiations, and day-to-day performance metrics.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor across Commercial and other key business units, contributing to enterprise-wide decision-making.
  • Build and develop a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring, and providing meaningful growth opportunities.
  • Create an aspirational team culture rooted in inclusion, collaboration, professionalism, and fun—promoting a strong work ethic and pride in the company.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience; Advanced Degree preferred
  • 10 years of experience in leadership or consultative roles
  • 7 years of experience in Commercial, Finance, or Strategy

  • Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills
