Responsible for appropriate collection management of oral history, photo, and archeological collections. Develop and implement computer databases and multimedia applications that will enhance and promote research, education, and better collection management of the museum's and IHLC's collections.
Position Duties

Responsible for maintaining proper conditions for long term care and storage of collections.
Process, prepare and catalog the museum and IHLC collections maintain documentation of work performed.
Periodically inventory all collections.
Make recommendations on objects to be considered for de-accessioning.
Responsible for all aspects of borrowing, lending, handling/packaging, and security of objects.
Process requests for rights and reproductions, insurance coverage and claims, incoming and outgoing loans.
Assist in the written interpretation of collections.
Responsible for the interactive multimedia computer applications to facilitate the educational and research aspects of the collections.
Respond to specific data requests from researchers, museum personnel, educators, and general public by following established museum procedures.
Conduct long-term research for computer hardware/software and technological equipment to enhance the use of museum and IHLC collections.
Conduct training on aspects of working with, handling and preservation of collections.
Manage computer menu-driven interface databases to meet the immediate and long-term information needs of the collections.
Perform chemical preservation process on artifacts when required.
Collaborate and assist with visiting exhibit staff.
Collaborate and assist on ECHO projects, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of Inupiat culture, language, values and traditions
Knowledge of museum operations.
Skills in exhibit-related work.
Ability to work under deadlines and with minimal supervision.
Other Qualifications
High school graduate or G.E.D./ or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience;
Two years work experience with computer-based management of museum collections;
Valid Alaska Driver's License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
