Title: Dean of Students Location- Hamden High School
Employee Qualifications:
Any valid Connecticut teaching certification which includes secondary certification
Minimum of five years teaching experience
Experience in public school setting preferred
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
Communicates effectively orally and in writing
Possession of an 092 (administrative certification) preferred but not required

Reports To: Hamden High School Principal or designee
Job Goal: Assist school staff in the maintenance and enforcement of school rules and acceptable student behavior and support all staff in maintaining a safe and orderly environment and school climate that is conducive to learning.
Essential Performance Responsibilities: 1. Processes student disciplinary referrals from staff as appropriate. 2. Confers with and counsels students involved in violations of school rules. 3. Confers with parents/ guardians and staff to develop behavior plans to ensure acceptable student behavior 4. Assist in the resolution of conflicts between students utilizing restorative practices 5. Supports after school detention programs as directed 6. Monitors and investigates student class cut reports. 7. Monitors student attendance and develops attendance improvement plans for students who are chronically absent or are at-risk of becoming chronically absent. 9. Assists with general student supervision when directed. 10. Analyzes relevant student behavior data and develops and/or implements behavior improvement plans working collaboratively with staff and parents/guardians 11. Supports the orderly operation of Hamden High School 12. Conducts investigates of student misconduct as assigned by school administration. 13. Communicates with all members of the school community regarding attendance and disciplinary matters. 14. Performs other related tasks as assigned by school administration, the Assistant Superintendent and/or the Superintendent of Schools
Terms of Employment: Per negotiated agreement
Bargaining Unit: Hamden Education Association (HEA)
Evaluation: Performance of the person holding this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
