Mountain Ranger - Winter 2025/26

Department: Ski Patrol Location: Gilford, NH

Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, NH is now hiring Mountain Rangers for the winter season to assist Gunstock Ski Patrol with on-mountain operations. This is an exciting new opportunity for experienced skiers and snowboarders with an interest in ski area operations! Mountain Rangers work closely with Ski Patrol to actively promote and protect the public safety and deliver an exceptional ski experience for winter guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct daily trail opening and closing inspections and communicate effectively with Dispatch and Patrollers to ensure all trails are properly inspected prior to opening/closing.
  • Assist with the daily placement and removal of on-mountain hazard marking, fencing, padding, rope lines, and signage.
  • Provide on-mountain escort assistance for Groomers during operational hours as needed.
  • Patrol and monitor slow zones and learning areas for safe skiing/riding.
  • Assist Patrollers with crowd control/scene safety during emergency responses.
  • Remain visible, approachable and assist with education/enforcement of skier safety programs such as the Responsibility Code and Park Smart.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of lift evacuation procedures as needed.
  • Responsible for adhering to skier safety programs, as well as skier safety education and enforcement of the Responsibility Code, Park Smart, and the Area�s Reckless Skier Policy in accordance with NH RSA 225.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency, plus 1-2 years outdoor recreation experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.; must be 18 years of age or older
  • Intermediate to advanced skiing/snowboarding skills required with ability to safely inspect all skiing/riding terrain in all weather conditions
  • Frequently required to move about the mountain and base area in emergency response situations; required to move equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally; constantly required to visually inspect, detect, and assess work areas, attractions, ski trails, lift lines, adventure courses, tools, equipment, and vehicles

STARTING PAY RATE: $13 per hour to start
