POSITION: Anticipated Director of Careers and Technology
BUILDING: Carlisle High School
Qualifications/Certification:
- Director of Vocational Education Certification for the Commonwealth of
- Five (5) years administrative experience in the field of Career and Technical Education.
- Master's Degree required, Doctorate preferred
Reports To/Supervised By: Director of Educational Programming Coordination Responsibilities:
- Carlisle Council on Career and Technical Education (formerly the Local Advisory Council)
- Perkins Stakeholder Committee
Duties/Related Responsibilities:
- Formulate and administer a comprehensive, modern program of academic, career and technical education.
- Maintain close working relationships with community and state agencies, local secondary and post-secondary education institutions, and area businesses, industries, and labor organizations, in order to provide education consistent with needs, and establish advisory committees as needed.
- Continuously appraise and evaluate the total academic and career and technical programs to achieve the established goals of providing the opportunity for people to prepare for gainful employment and post-secondary education.
- Possess current knowledge of pertinent rules and regulations affecting career and technical education.
- Advise and assist in obtaining state and federal funds for career and technical education and related programs.
- Assume responsibility for the collection, review, and submission of all forms and reports relative to career and technical education and special programs to state and federal agencies.
- Direct the supervision and evaluation of all instructional personnel in academic and career and technical education programs.
- Direct the supervision and evaluation of all support and technology personnel
- Supervise and evaluate assigned administrative staff.
- Work to identify and define local job/career opportunities and the role of the school in meeting these opportunities.
- Provide for in-service, professional development, and education for the
- Interpret the career and technical education programs to the public.
- Prepare and administer the budget.
- Make recommendations for long-term adjustments, changes, additions, and deletions in career and technical education programs to meet changing job trends and needs.
- Assist in the recruitment and screening of career and technical teachers, and support staff.
- Maintain membership in and participate in the affairs of professional societies devoted to the advancement of career and technical education.
- Conduct regular professional advisory committee meetings.
- Make recommendations for the implementation of the school’s technology
- Develop and carry out all administrative policies approved by the School Board.
