Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students enrolled in special education classrooms designated as Special Day Class (SDC), Transitional Opportunity Class, Resource Specialist Program (RSP) or general education classes; assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs); provide community based instructional and behavioral support to assigned students perform a variety of routine clerical duties; assist students with performing and developing proper social behavior, independent living, personal hygiene and self-help skills.

TESTING INFORMATION:
The District Paraprofessional test will be given by invitation only on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to test and notified via email. The same District test may only be taken once every 30 days (15 days for current regular employees).
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: High School graduate or the equivalent. Associate Degree or 48-semester units of college course work from an accredited college or university.
Or
Testing: Passing scores on District Paraprofessional test, within the last three (3) years.
Experience: One year experience in working with children in an organized setting or learning environment.
Other: Spanish/Bilingual Desired
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid First Aid and CPR certification within six months of employment. Some incumbents may be required to be proficient in English and a designated second language and pass an oral and/or written proficiency test in a designated second language.
Salary Info
Range 40 of the Classified Salary Schedule "C". SDC-Mod/Severe and 1:1 assignments will receive additional 5% differential pay. Family medical and dental benefits are available at 85.71% District paid.
