Job Description:

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in New York, New York October 15-17. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026. 

The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Thursday and Friday, interviews will take place at our New York office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

AECOM is actively seeking a bright and highly motivated Entry-Level Process Mechanical Water/Wastewater Designer for employment in our Water Business Line based out of our New York, NY office.

This is a project-based engineering position to assist and support Wastewater/Water Design, Design-Build and Program Management Projects. The Position will work with Project Managers and other technical disciplines on all project phases including Facility Planning, Design, Procurement, Construction and Close Out. Work will include assisting with the management and coordination of design projects on municipal Wastewater/Water facilities.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and schedules.
  • Develop detailed process flow diagrams (PFD). 
  • Support the development of the Revit model for each project.
  • Support the daily Revit model management, administration and maintenance.
  • Help to develop BIM Content:  Families such as parametric, formula nested and type catalogs.
  • Support linked views and others in multiple models situation.
  • Provide REVIT MEP, Architecture and Structural support.
  • Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the water/wastewater industry. 
  • General knowledge, limited experience, or relevant training related to fundamental theories, principles and concepts of water and/or wastewater engineering. 
  • Experience laying out industrial mechanical process equipment (i.e., pumps, piping, valves, etc.).
  • Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn. 
  • Documents time and effort accurately. 
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Flexible – can adapt to shifting priorities / work schedules. 
  • Able to work independently /self-learner. 
  • Can take direction from others and in turn can provide guidance to others.

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in New York, NY. The selected candidate must be available to work in New York, NY on a scheduled basis.
